Description:

  • A World of Light to discover.
  • The authors of this article were the first to study Archeoastronomy in Hadrian's Villa at Tivoli (Rome), built by the emperor Hadrian starting from 117 AD.
  • They discovered the astronomical orientation of the Accademia building and the Accademia Esplanade on which it stands. They also confirmed the astronomical orientation of the Roccabruna building, discovered in 1988 by the American architects Robert Mangurian and Mary-Ann Ray during their surveys in the Villa.
  • In those two buildings special luminous phenomena (hierophanies) occur, which are visible only on a few days during the year. They correspond to precise astronomical events, the Winter Solstice and the Summer Solstice, and are linked to the main religious feast of the Roman calendar.
  • You will discover their symbolic meaning reading this book.
